On December 5, RideWise held our annual Recognition Breakfast and celebrated 50 of our Somerset County corporate, municipal, and nonprofit partners and their work in promoting sustainable transportation and commuting alternatives, safety and workplace wellness for their employees. We also recognized 11 of our Safe Routes to School participants and their efforts in encouraging students to be healthy, active and independent by regularly biking and walking to school. This year’s 3 DriveLess Somerset winners were also awarded.
The breakfast’s keynote speaker was Stephen Sigmund, Chief of Public Outreach for the Gateway Development Program. Mr. Sigmund addressed the importance of Gateway and its implications for Somerset County. The Gateway Program is a multi-billion dollar infrastructure initiative to build a new rail tunnel under the Hudson River, a new Portal Bridge over the Hackensack River, an expansion of New York’s Penn Station, and other ancillary projects.
Thank you to our sponsors, guest speaker Stephen Sigmund, and all of our award recipients for your hard work this year. Congratulations, and we look forward to continuing to partner with you in 2020!
