The closure of the CR-527 bridge over the D&R Canal in South Bound Brook is causing daily delays on Somerset County’s DASH and CAT buses. This is expected to continue until the bridge re-opens. The bridge is expected to be closed for approximately two months for repairs.
The CAT1R shuttle bus, which serves Franklin, Bound Brook, Somerville, Raritan and Branchburg, and DASH shuttles 851 & 852, serving New Brunswick, Bound Brook and Franklin, rely on the Queens Bridge to maintain a timely route. As a result of the closure, these shuttles are being diverted to Interstate 287, which is causing anywhere from 15- to 30-minute delays in the schedule. And because each shuttle bus runs its route on a loop, pickups are being delayed throughout the day.
Somerset County Transportation wants its riders to be aware of the delays being caused by the closure of the Queens Bridge and to plan accordingly. For more information, contact the Somerset County Transportation Division at (908) 231-7116.
