CarFit checks keep older drivers safe

Beginning Monday, April 16, RideWise will offer one-on-one CarFit sessions, by appointment, for older drivers.   CarFit, a national educational program created by AAA, AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles “fit” them. Personal mobility is critical for healthy aging.  However, as the body changes with age, ill-fitting vehicles can make it uncomfortable and unsafe to drive. All employees at RideWise are trained to conduct a 12-point CarFit check to ensure older drivers “fit” their vehicle properly for maximum safety and comfort. The CarFit check takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.  CarFit checks are done by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling (908) 704-1011 or by emailing staff@ridewise.org
