18 clients receive bikes through BikeConnect

A man, Daniel, stands with his street bicycle.

Please help us continue connecting adults needing transportation with refurbished bicycles by donating your gently-used bike. Eighteen clients have received bicycles for work-related travel since our BikeConnect program started in 2021, and twenty-four residents have generously donated bicycles.

Pops Bike Shop in Somerville inspects and tunes up each bicycle before RideWise presents them to clients referred by nonprofit organizations in Somerset County. Bike recipients also receive a helmet, bike lock, and cycling safety instruction from RideWise.

Nonprofit agencies referring clients include WorkFirst New Jersey, the Somerset County Board of Social Services, Agape House, One Stop Career Services, the YMCA, and the Home of Somerset County.

If you have a bicycle that you wish to donate, contact staff@ridewise.org or call (908) 704-1011 ext. 11 to arrange a bicycle inspection and drop off. You can also organize a bike drive! Here are some bike donation tips and ideas:

  1. Donate your gently-used bicycle to RideWise BikeConnect directly
  2. Host a bike drive through your workplace, community nonprofit, or neighborhood – or on social media!
  3. Purchase a bike to donate:
