SOMERVILLE, NJ – Join the Somerset County Division of Transportation at its virtual public hearing on Wednesday, Aug. 18 at 10:30 a.m., via Zoom. The purpose of the meeting is to get public input about how funds from the 2022 Casino Revenue Grant will be allocated. The meeting will occur via Zoom. To access the Zoom meeting, click here.

In 2022, the transportation division will receive a grant for $638,714.00, which will be used to support Somerset County’s consolidated transportation program including its para-transit and public transit services.

Residents can submit written comments and recommendations via the U.S. Postal Service until Aug. 17. Mail to: The Somerset County Division of Transportation, P.O. Box 3000, Somerville, NJ 08876, RE:  2022 Casino Application, or email comments to the Somerset County Division of Transportation at transportationdiv@co.somerset.nj.us.

Somerset County Division of Transportation
The Division of Transportation provides para-transit services to senior citizens (age 60+) and persons with disabilities (age 18+) for medical, employment, workshops, senior centers, and other destinations. Community transportation is also provided to the general public along fixed routes as indicated by pre-printed time schedules.

Casino Revenue Fund
In 1977 legislation was signed into law and the Constitution was amended, which permitted casino gambling in Atlantic City to provide 8% of yearly casino gross receipts for deposit into the Casino Revenue Fund (CRF). The legislation specified that CRF money should be used solely for programs that serve seniors and persons with disabilities.
