Somerset County Transportation Announces New Bus Schedules Starting April 5, 2021

Beginning April 5, 2021, Somerset County Transportation will initiate changes to the CAT-1R, CAT-2R, and SCOOT 858, 859, 860 public bus schedules. The attached flyers should be shared with those who use these bus routes. The full schedules will be available on the RideWise website after April 5, 2021. Notable changes in the updated schedules include:

SCOOT 858, 859, 860

SCOOT 858, 859, 860: This flaggable route runs between Hillsborough and Bedminster, traveling through Manville, Somerville, and Bridgewater before making the turn at The Hills in Bedminster. Removing two timepoint locations: The Bridgewater Marriott and 1041 Route 202/206. Because of the removal of these locations, there are many, minor timepoint changes in the schedule. Additionally, SCOOT 858 will now begin the southbound service at the Somerville train station at 7:02 am and SCOOT 859 will end the northbound morning service at the Bridgewater Commons Mall at 9:07 am. Please check your timetable carefully before traveling.

CAT-1R

CAT-1R: This flaggable route runs between Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in Branchburg and New Brunswick, traveling through Raritan Borough, Somerville, Bound Brook, South Bound Brook, Franklin, and Somerset, before making the turn at the New Brunswick train station. This route will now provide additional early morning pickup times departing Bound Brook at 6:30 am on the way to New Brunswick and continuing to RVCC. The last bus headed back to the Franklin/Somerset area will leave RVCC at 4:10 pm and the very last bus to leave the RVCC campus will be at 6:40 pm, ending in Somerville. This schedule provides five trips in each direction to RVCC.

CAT-2R

CAT-2R: This flaggable route runs between Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) and North Plainfield, traveling through Raritan Borough, Somerville, Bound Brook, Green Brook and North Plainfield. The bus will now add a departure time leaving RVCC at 11:26 am, with points heading toward Somerville. In Somerville, riders can make connections to the Raritan Valley Line train or the NJ TRANSIT 114 bus to continue their trip eastbound. Additionally, travelers who are originating in North Plainfield will now have the first bus leave North Drive & Mountain Ave (timepoint #1) at 8:59 am. This schedule now provides three trips to RVCC and four trips returning to North Plainfield.
