As the pandemic crisis unfolded, RideWise has continued working to meet the needs of those who have transportation questions, including those who have concerns with transportation insecurity and those who need to get to essential services. Somerset County public buses and NJ TRANSIT buses have begun taking the steps necessary to begin a cautious and careful return to service in the Somerset County area.
As of June 1, Somerset County’s transportation division began phasing-in its shuttle and paratransit services with modified schedules. Fares will be waived until July 1. Residents and service operators will be required to wear facial coverings and vehicles will be limited to operating with 50% occupancy. The disinfection of all vehicles will be completed after every shift, and additional cleaning procedures will be performed to ensure that all vehicles are sterile. Residents who are experiencing any symptoms related to COVID-19, such as difficulty breathing, fever and coughing are not permitted to use the county’s transportation services and should immediately contact a healthcare professional.
As of June 8, all NJ TRANSIT buses have resumed their regular, full schedules. Trains continue to run on modified schedules.
