UPDATES:

MAY 1, 2023 – IMPORTANT NOTE: Effective Monday, May 1, SCOOT Peak shuttle buses 858 and 859 will be discontinued until further notice due to a driver shortage. The SCOOT Peak shuttle bus 860 will continue to operate with some time changes/adjustments to assist those affected by the end of services on 858. Please visit Somerset County’s website to learn more.

APRIL 2023 – The Bagel Garden in Branchburg will no longer sell Trans-Bridge Lines bus tickets. Please make purchases online or at any other Authorized Ticket Agent locations. In addition, Trans-Bridge Lines will soon begin operating as a RESERVATION-BASED system. This means your seat will be confirmed for the travel date and time you select. Create an account to reserve your seats.

MARCH 2023 – Due to construction, there are several transit detours and changes in place:

CAT-2R Route in Bound Brook: Due to the closure of Mountain Avenue in Bound Brook for utility construction, the Somerset County Transportation Division will re-route the CAT-2R onto Greenbrook Road instead of Mountain Avenue until further notice. Pick-ups will continue on the intersection of Union Ave and Mountain Ave.

The CAT-2R bus will travel along Route 22 westbound before making the jughandle turn onto King George Road, crossing over Route 22 onto Sebrings Mills Road, which then turns into Greenbrook Road. The bus will make a right hand turn onto Route 28 and continue along the route into Bound Brook.

Somerville Train Station: Due to ongoing construction at the Somerville Train Station, the Somerset County public transit shuttles including the CAT and SCOOT routes will be picking up and dropping off passengers on the Veterans Memorial Drive side of the train station. Buses will not be entering the main entrance off of South Bridge Street until further notice. For more information, please call 908-231-7116.

Also Effective Immediately – Hunterdon County Route 23 stop for the Somerville Train Station will temporarily be on Veterans Memorial Boulevard by the Train Station entrance instead of in the parking lot. Please contact dispatch for any questions 1-800-842-0531.

NOVEMBER 5, 2021 – Limited service on Rt. 78 will resume Monday, 5/3/21. As of 11/5/21, Lakeland Bus added new stops at the Warren Park & Ride, by Warren Corporate Center:

  • Eastbound: 6:35 AM
  • Westbound: 6:15 PM and 6:45 PM

Please check emergency schedule at lakelandbus.com for schedule and details.

NOVEMBER 14, 2019 – Raritan Valley Line Direct Service to New York Returns on Off-Peak Trains.

On Monday, November 4, Raritan Valley Line (RVL) direct service to New York resumed for off-peak trains. NJ TRANSIT temporarily suspended New York direct service in September 2018 as NJ TRANSIT continued the installation of Positive Train Control equipment on its rail fleet.

Please note the following:

  • All five midday one-seat RVL round-trips that operated prior to September 2018 will resume on November 4.
  • Three of the four evening off-peak one-seat round-trip trains will resume.
  • Connection times reduced and streamlined for late-evening trains.
    • So crews have adequate time to inspect and prepare equipment for morning service, the final evening direct round trip – previously departing Raritan at 9:53 p.m. and departing New York at 12:08 a.m. – will not be restored at this time.
    • The current 9:53 p.m. departure from Raritan will operate 16 minutes later, reducing the connecting time at Newark for New York-bound customers from 24 minutes to eight minutes.
    • The 12:05 a.m. departure from New York (Train 3201) will connect with Train 5401 at Newark with a seven-minute connection time.

For more information and language assistance, please call NJ TRANSIT Customer Service at (973) 275-5555 between 8:30 am-5 pm.
